Description
As a young boy, a few characters that entered our home via the two channels we had on television influenced me. Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Tonto and The Lone Ranger, and Chuck Connors as The Rifleman. This naïve young artist believed that the Good Guys always get the Bad Guys and then ride off happily into the sunset. Well, I do continue to believe some aspects of that to this day. But, I was impressed with how this widower seemed to take on the responsibility of mother and father during those trying times, always guiding his son and helping him to make the right choices along the way.

Excellent piece. Like you I'm one of those old kids that watched Lucas McCaine and The Lone Ranger before school. Then of course McHales Navy or Combat in the evening. Thanks to You Tube and Hulu we can still see some good shows!
Rick Fitzsimons replied:
Thanks Gene, Being that my father was a member of Darby's Rangers during WW2, watching combat in the evening was an absolute in our home. Great Memories. Rick
