Artist's Description

�The Guiding Light� represents the feeling of hope in our lives when we are experiencing the most difficult times. The storms and the danger will end, but during those troublesome periods we need to keep a watch for that beacon of light that brings us safely back from the dark.

Initially, the painting was just a lighthouse. Gradually, I began to add and change things as I veered further away from my original plan. The once (all white) lighthouse building was transferred into stone. The time-eroded land became surrounded by fencing. A tide pool suddenly materialized. And finally, a large rowboat sits on the shoreline occupied by a curious feathered guest.

Rick Fitzsimons

Rick Fitzsimons Born in Bristol, Connecticut, where he now lives with his wife Bonnie, Rick’s interest in art emerged as a young child. Endless hours of drawing occupied much of his time as a youth. Although fascinated with the different aspects of art, he never thought he would make it his livelihood. His background in Business Management led him on an unusual path, circling back to the world of art. Rick and his dad opened an Awards and Sign shop in their hometown. Not long after, customers would request new Logo designs for their businesses, which led to applying the images to large signs and vehicles.
