Description
Having recently returned from a trip to Arizona, I was eager to set up my canvas for this picture for a couple of reasons. The initial reason: This was the first real-life rodeo this Connecticut boy has ever witnessed. The second reason: It reminded me of my late father, who had a great love for clowns. Several walls of his home were adorned with pictures of clowns of every kind.
Out of respect and for the pure joy, I attempted to capture the mood of the audience as the Rodeo Clown walks towards the Gate as it closes behind the massive bull exiting the arena. The dust from the 8-second ride permeates the air like a heavy wind- storm.
If you look closely, you can see the cartoon character this artist added of his father, (without his glasses) just above and to the left of the letter J in the Jack Daniels banner. White T-shirt and white hair.
